With the transfer window now firmly shut, Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa will need to plot his route to the Premier League with the squad he has already assembled.

When considering his squad though, Bielsa will also need to bear in mind the players he currently has out on loan, with 20-year-old striker Mallik Wilks a player that falls into that category, currently out on loan in League One with Doncaster Rovers.

Wilks has scored eight goals and provided five assists in 29 appearances in League One this season, but does the player ultimately have a future back at Leeds?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

“Why not?

“These young players go out on loan to develop and grow. I’ve seen a young Jermain Defoe score for Bournemouth and David Beckham whip in a free kick for Preston in what now be League One.

“Everyone starts somewhere and Wilkes will be better for this spell.”

Jacob Potter

"It depends if they win promotion.

"If Leeds are promoted this season, then I really can’t see Wilks being given a chance in the first-team, but if they stay in the Championship, he’ll definitely be involved in Bielsa’s side.

"He’s surely worth a punt and would be fully deserving of a call-up to the first-team in the future."

Alfie Burns

“Wilks is flying for Doncaster this season. He couldn’t be doing anything else to get noticed by Leeds.

“That chance might not come next season if the Whites are in the Premier League, but another loan spell will present itself and that’s a chance to again impress his parent-club.

“In time, if Wilks can continue to progress, a chance will come at Leeds.”

Jay Taylor

“Only time will tell.

“He has to see out the rest of his loan at Doncaster before returning to the club for pre-season, and if he is loaned out again, I would imagine the answer is a no.

“It all depends, too, on what division Leeds are in next season.

“If they go up I can’t see him getting anywhere near the first team.”
