Portsmouth achieved their first away win since November on Saturday, as they edged past Bolton Wanderers 1-0 in League One to boost their promotion hopes.

Pompey's eventual winner came from an unlikely source, as centre-back Christian Burgess found the net for the first time since April 2019 to give the south coast side the lead just before the break.

Pompey had to hold out for the win, with the Trotters putting the visitors under pressure regularly throughout the contest. Bolton had sixteen shots to Portsmouth's nine.

In spite of that, Kenny Jackett's side held out to get their first win on their travels in four attempts, climbing up to 7th in the table in the process.

Pompey are also level on points with Sunderland, who sit in the final play-off place.
