‘Only if they stay up’ – Trevoh Chalobah’s future at Ipswich amid Chelsea uncertainty: Opinion

Published

on

Despite being locked in a relegation battle at Ipswich Town, Chelsea loan defender Trevoh Chalobah has stated that he doesn’t know where he will be playing next season, but would not be adverse to another spell at Portman Road according to a report in the EADT.

Chalobah, 19, has made 33 appearances for the Tractor Boys this season, in what has been his first season in adult football, but with his parent club subject to a transfer embargo for the next two windows, the future for Chelsea youngsters out on loan is uncertain.

So should Ipswich do all they can to keep Chalobah for another season?

We discuss…..

Gary Hutchinson

“Only if they stay up.

“Otherwise it could be hugely detrimental to the player.

“He needs to impress in the Championship, not slide into decline with the Tractor Boys.”

Jacob Potter

“I’m shocked by this.

“Chalobah is head and shoulders above the majority of the Ipswich squad in terms of quality and what a boost this latest update could be.

“Ipswich should be doing everything they can to agree a deal to sign him up for next year’s campaign.”

George Harbey

“I think they should.

“Chalobah has endured a mixed season this term, but all in all he has real quality and would be a great signing for League One.

“It would be a massive boost if they were to sign him next season.”

Jay Taylor

“He would be different class in League One.

“There have been glimpses of his talent during the season, but in a poor team, he has shined at times.

“If he stays with the club in the third tier – then he could well be one of the best players in the division next season.”
