Bolton Wanderers' players and staff will not receive their wages for at least another two weeks, according to a reliable journalist.

The players refused to attend training last month in support of the club's non-playing staff, who were yet to receive their wages for the month of March.

The Championship game against Brentford that was due to take place almost two weeks ago was then cancelled, after the Bolton players refused to play in protest at their unpaid wages.

Alan Nixon, a reliable journalist for The Sun, has now revealed that the Bolton players and staff will go unpaid for another two weeks.

Bolton appeared in High Court this morning over a winding-up petition issued by HM Revenue & Customs over an unpaid tax bill of £1.2million and were expected to be placed into administration today.

The court has been adjourned until May 22, allowing time for an administrator to be appointed.

Ken Anderson has been under pressure to sell the club for weeks to save it from administration and former Watford owner Laurence Bassini was expected to complete a takeover, but his deal to buy the club collapsed after he failed to provide proof of funding.

Anderson issued a statement earlier today, claiming that Bassini had wasted his time and that he had been left with "little or no choice" but to place the club in administration.

The Verdict

It has been a terrible season for Bolton Wanderers, both on and off the field.

The team have been relegated from the Championship and the club's financial problems have spiralled out of control, impacting on all levels of the club.

Whatever happens over the next two weeks, hopefully the players and staff are paid as soon as possible.
