Fulham manager Slaviša Jokanović has seemingly got the squad he wants at Craven Cottage after he deemed the west London club to be his next project - previously being Watford - whom he gained promotion with to the top-flight.

The Cottagers' current league position shows that as well with them lying just one place and two points behind Sheffield Wednesday, with a game in hand as well.

First-team players such as midfielder Tom Cairney are just an example on how far Fulham have come since appointing their Yugoslavian boss as a team who have struggled to finish outside the bottom-half since their relegation are looking likely contenders to break the pattern this time round.

Just a couple of summer signings and the club will be knocking on the doors of promotion in the 2016/17 campaign for a much awaited return to the Premier League.

A few of those arrivals between the end of the season and the next could possibly be from the English Football League, here are THREE lower league stars Fulham must be keeping tabs on.....

John-Joe O'Toole

The Northampton Town midfielder has really been a bright spark in a disappointing campaign for the Cobblers, with the team lingering in mid-table having enjoyed an impressive run to a League Two title back in May.

John-Joe O'Toole has appeared has turned out for over 110 matches for his employer since making a move to Sixfields in 2014 from Bristol Rovers, but it is especially this year the former Republic of Ireland under-21 international has caught the eye.

The 28-year-old has bagged himself ten league goals this season and his contract is up at the club this summer, meaning a move from Fulham isn't miles away but the Cottagers should keep him on their radar to track the progress.

John Marquis

John Marquis has almost become a cult hero at Doncaster Rovers with the striker's 20 goals in League Two and the Yorkshire outfit comfortably sitting top of the pile in the fourth tier.

He joined them in the summer after being surplus to requirements at Millwall, although that would turn out to be a mistake as the 24 year-old is one of the hottest and most wanted players in the Football League.

Fulham may well be wanting to find a new forward in the upcoming transfer window having lost Matt Smith in January. Marquis's improvement is nothing short of pleasing and the Championship side will want to scout him for the remainder of the campaign and perhaps even make a move soon.

John Akinde

The Cottagers are surely looking for a tough, pacey and strong striker to complete their squad and John Akinde is certainly someone they should be looking at over the next few months.

Akinde, 27, has been playing in a Barnet shirt since 2014 after impressing in non-league, and it came to no shock that the League Two team were adamant to keep hold of their star forward at the end of last season.

He unsurprisingly put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal in May at the Hive Stadium and his phenomenal form has continued as he is the division's top goal scorer with 21 goals - a real threat Fulham could need in the not too distant future.
