Joe Worrall has returned to Nottingham Forest after a loan spell at Scottish Premier League runners-up Rangers, where he played regularly.

Alongside Connor Goldson, Worrall was a regular for Steven Gerrard’s side, who had a first good season in the job.

Worrall’s Forest career is far from over though, with the defender looking likely to stay and star for the club next season.

If he does come back and start regularly, does that spell the end for a defender at Forest?

We debate…

Alfie Burns

“The way O’Neill has been operating at Forest I think it probably does.

“A little bit more emphasis has gone on promoting the youth at Forest since his arrival and I’m fully expecting Worrall to be a regular feature in the side next season.

“Something has to give therefore, and I think Hefele has a good chance of being sacrificed.”

Lewis Steele

“It would be a shame for Forest to lose a talent like this.

“Worrall will have learned a lot at Rangers, so I think Forest should sell another defender to make room for him.

“Michael Hefele might be that man. His Forest career started so well but he has been out of favour in recent months.”

Louie Chandler

“It does not look good for Hefele.

“Forest have far too big a squad and I think O'Neill needs to be brutal this summer in cutting it down to a workable size for himself.

“Hefele has looked good at times but with his injury problems is surely not worth keeping over the returning Worrall.”
