Sheffield Wednesday are monitoring free agent Ahmed Musa as boss Tony Pulis looks to strengthen his squad.

The Nigerian international, who has won 87 caps for the Super Eagles, is available on a free having left Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr earlier this year.

And, according to Football Insider, the Owls are considering making an offer to Musa.

If the deal goes through, it would be the 28-year-old's second spell in English football, as he joined Leicester City the season after they won the Premier League.

Given his pedigree, landing Musa, who is known for his blistering pace and can play across the forward positions, would be something of a coup for Wednesday.

Winner: Barry Bannan

The Scottish playmaker is one of the most technical players in the Championship but this Owls squad isn't set up to get the best out of him.

However, having Musa would certainly help. The ex-CSKA Moscow man is constantly looking for balls in behind, something Bannan has the ability to provide, and they could form a good understanding.

As well as that, having someone with Musa's pace will force defenders to sit deep, freeing up space for Bannan to play in the middle of the park.

Loser: Elias Kachunga

The former Huddersfield man was an unused substitute in Pulis' first game, so Musa arriving at Hillsborough isn't going to help.

As mentioned, the Nigerian can play across the front line and he probably goes straight into the XI, knocking Kachunga further down the pecking order.

Already, it seems as though the summer arrival faces a battle to make his mark in Sheffield.
