Leeds United are reportedly in talks with Luton Town over a potential deal for midfielder Eunan O'Kane according to Football Insider.

The report claims that Leeds have accepted a loan bid for the 29-year-old as the January transfer window draws to a close.

O'Kane has struggled for game time under Marcelo Bielsa's management, and is yet to make a single appearance for the Whites first team this term.

Leeds are currently sat top of the Championship table, and will be hoping they can make a long-awaited return to the Premier League under the Argentine's guidance.

O'Kane previously had a loan spell at Kenilworth Road with the Hatters, but it was cut short after he sustained a double leg fracture that ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

Bielsa is seemingly keen to move on the 'deadwood' in the Leeds squad before Deadline Day, with O'Kane falling into that category.

We look at ONE winner and ONE loser as Leeds open talks with Luton over a deal for O'Kane before Friday's deadline.

Winner: Eunan O'Kane

O'Kane hasn't been given a chance by Marcelo Bielsa since returning from a lengthy spell in the treatment room through injury.

So, you would imagine that he would have been keen to further his career by finding a loan move away from Elland Road before the January transfer window closed.

He'll have a point to prove with Luton as well, and will be keen to make up for lost time, after his previous loan spell with the Hatters was cut short through a season-ending injury.

Loser: Leeds United (sort of)

O'Kane has rarely featured for Leeds in recent seasons, with his last appearance for the Whites coming in the 2017/18 season.

So, it's clear to see that he's not in Marcelo Bielsa's plans with the Leeds first team, as they turn their attentions to their promotion bid in the Championship this term.

If Leeds are to have serious ambitions of challenging for a return to the Premier League, then they'll be keen to clear out the 'deadwood' currently in the squad.

O'Kane falls into that category of players unfortunately, so you have to imagine that Leeds will be disappointed that they haven't been able to sell the midfielder permanently to the Hatters.

He doesn't have a long-term future at Elland Road, so it's surprising to see that any potential deal is only a loan one at this stage of the January transfer window.
