One winner and one loser to emerge from Reading 2-3 Blackpool

Published

on

Blackpool completed a remarkable comeback at Reading last night, overcoming a two-goal deficit to end up 3-2 winners at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Goals from Scott Dann and Tom Dele-Bashiru put the hosts into a commanding 2-0 lead after just 21 minutes, before Owen Dale netted on his Championship debut in the 69th minute, setting up a tense finale in Berkshire.

Four minutes later, the 22-year-old turned provider, teeing up Jerry Yates to nod in.

Yates then grabbed his second of the night, and the eventual winner from the penalty spot, securing another victory for a side who are hitting a very good spell of form.

Here, we take a look at one winner and one loser from last night’s contest in Berkshire.

One winner – Owen Dale

Last night proved to be a debut to remember for the young winger, who joined this summer from Crewe Alexandra.

Dale, who netted 11 League One goals last time out for the Cheshire club, came on in the 66th minute, and seven minutes later, he had grabbed a goal and an assist.

Dale’s introduction to life in the Championship now adds further complications to Neil Critchley’s line of thinking’s their current options in wide areas is Tyreece John-Jules and Josh Bowler, two players that have been extremely influential thus far.

Critchley has done magnificently well with players who are unproven at Championship level this season, and Dale could be the latest name who could go on to shine regularly in the division.

One loser – Veljko Paunovic

Veljko Paunvoic will be gutted that Reading were not able to see the game out when they were two goals to the good and with just 25 minutes left.

Reading were denied an opportunity to break into the play-offs last night, and whilst they have done brilliantly well after a tough start, conceding three in 20 minutes to lose a game will certainly give confidence levels within the side a wobble.

Given the difficulties around bringing players in, and the fact that they lost key personnel in the summer and to injury, Paunovic has managed to turn things and bring positivity back to Berkshire.

He will be eager to eliminate this from his own mind, and his players, so that they can get back to winning ways as soon as possible.
