Stoke City have certainly proven ambitious this summer with a number of eye-catching transfers so far in the window.

The men from the Bet365 Stadium are considered one of the favourites for promotion this campaign coming and you can understand why.

They've kept much of their squad together, added well and have a manager in Gary Rowett who is regarded as one of the best in the division.

Certainly, then, there is cause for optimism at the club and according to the Sun over the weekend the spending might continue with a £7m bid for Sam Gallagher.

The young striker was on loan at Birmingham City last season but did not perhaps perform as well as he can do.

With that said, then, he'll be looking to prove a point if he joins and here we're looking at the winner and loser of any potential deal...

Saido Berahino is hoping for a new start this season with Stoke but Gallagher's arrival might scupper those plans.

Rowett will need to decide whether to give the 24-year-old a chance in the coming campaign but if Gallagher comes in that might suggest he's already made up his mind.

If Rowett plays two up top it could be Afobe that benefits.

Gallagher is capable of winning the ball and holding things up which could allow Afobe to work off him and get into space with his movement.

Rowett might not always want to play a two-pronged attack but if he does the pair could prove his best duo.
