Gary Rowett will be disappointed with his Stoke City side's performance as 2018 turns to 2019, but there is still time to salvage it.

The Potters drew 2-2 with Aston Villa last weekend at the Be365 Stadium to rise up to 11th place in the Championship table, now just five points behind Middlesbrough who currently occupy the final play-off place.

With January just around the corner, there is a transfer window in the offing, and you can bet that Rowett will be keen to strengthen in order to push for a top-six finish.

The most recent name to be linked with a move to the club is West Ham midfielder Marcus Browne, who is currently impressing on loan with Oxford United in League One.

He has so far scored four goals and assisted four more in Karl Robinson's struggling outfit.

But who would be the big winner and loser if he were to arrive?

Afobe would undoubtedly be the biggest winner from this situation.

The strikers at Stoke have been starved of quality service at time with that hole behind the attacker a troubled spot.

With somebody like Browne creating and providing more intense competition it is an exciting time for Afobe.

It is not good news for Clucas, however.

The attacker only recently returned from injury but is yet to truly shine for his new club.

Browne's arrival could well push the former Swansea City man to achieve his best form yet, but it could also eliminate his chances of game time.
