Hull City now sit in eighth place, unbeaten in their last ten matches and just six points behind Derby County who occupy sixth place, despite being a preseason tip for relegation.

With the January transfer window now in full flow, manager Nigel Adkins will no doubt be looking to strengthen his side for the final few months of the season.

And they look like they could be set to announce their first signing of the window in the form of Bournemouth winger Marc Pugh.

The 31-year-old has been out of favour at the Vitality for a while now, making just 20 Premier League appearances in the last two seasons.

During his eight-and-a-half-year spell with Eddie Howe's side he has played over 300 matches, scoring 56 goals and contributing 52 assists in the process.

With big signings such as this, however, there are invariably winners and losers within the squad.

Who, then, in this situation would win and who would lose out?

Chris Martin

The Tigers' first choice striker would surely be the big winner in this situation.

He already has Evandro, Kamil Grosicki and Jarrod Bowen providing for him, so adding more competition into the mix will surely only work to his benefit.

Martin will be disappointed with his meagre goal tally so far this season so another creator will be a welcome sight for him.

David Milinkovic

Signed in the summer with plenty of excitement, Milinkovic has struggled to kick on at the K Com.

Just three substitute appearances have been made so far amid a few injury concerns means and with Pugh arriving he is likely to fall further down the pecking order.

It will be a test of his character to see whether he will step up when challenged.
