Cardiff City are one of four Championship clubs believed to be showing an interest in Exeter winger Randell Williams.

The 22-year-old has been one of the Grecian's outstanding performers so far this season, starring as they currently lead the way in League Two and are yet to lose a game.

However, according to TEAMtalk, they could face a battle to keep hold of Williams in January, with the Bluebirds monitoring the wide man along with Huddersfield, QPR and Nottingham Forest.

So, if the player continues his bright form up until the New Year, there could be a real battle for his signature when the window opens.

Here we look at ONE winner and ONE loser should Williams end up playing his football in the Welsh capital...

Randell Williams

You would have to say that the big winner from this transfer would have to be the winger himself.

After suffering rejection at Crystal Palace and Watford over the years, he has fought back to make it as a professional but the highest level he has played at is League One.

So, to play for a Championship side - one that have ambitions of reaching the top-flight, would represent a major step up in his career and would be a proud moment for Williams.

Gavin Whyte

This is not a criticism of Whyte, who is still settling into life in the Championship but the addition of a new winger would make things harder for him.

With the likes of Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Junior Hoilett and Josh Murphy at the club, competition for places is already fierce enough.

So, this would make things harder for the Northern Ireland, who despite impressing last time out, is still to score or register an assist in seven league games.
