Blackburn are hoping to be active in the final week of the transfer window and they are in the race to sign Leeds United's Joe Gelhardt.

A combination of a new arrival at Elland Road and players returning from injury means the 20-year-old is going to be allowed to leave on a temporary basis.

Unsurprisingly given his ability, a host of clubs in the Championship have been linked with the attacker, but it has now been claimed that Blackburn and Sunderland are emerging as the frontrunners for his signature.

With both pushing for a play-off place, it could come down to whoever offers the best financial package to the Whites and it will be interesting to see if Rovers can come out on top.

Here we look at ONE winner and ONE loser if Gelhardy does move to Ewood Park...

Winner: Jon Dahl Tomasson

As mentioned, Gelhardt is a man in-demand so there's no doubting that if Blackburn do secure the player then it is a massive coup.

Therefore, it would be a real boost for Jon Dahl Tomasson and the prospect of Gelhardt playing in the final third with Ben Brereton Diaz is one that should really excite the boss and all connected to Blackburn.

We know that they lack goals outside of the Chile international so bringing in the Leeds man will give them another dimension in attack.

Loser: Sam Gallagher

Whilst Gelhardt is a different type of player to Sam Gallagher, the reality is that the big man would be the one who suffers.

He hasn't truly established himself as a key part of the team but and if Gelhardt joins then realistically he is going to play a lot moving forward.

As a result, Gallagher is going to spend more time on the bench and may become an impact sub.
