With Birmingham City having parted ways with manager Garry Monk on Tuesday, they may now face an uphill battle to keep hold of one of their star performers.

According to the Telegraph, Southampton are poised to make a £14m bid for Che Adams as they look to finally secure the services of the forward after having an offer rejected in the January transfer window.

Utterly outstanding for Birmingham last season, the 22-year-old was directly involved in 26 goals for his side and seemingly looks more than ready to make the step up in level to the Premier League.

Whereas the Blues will be reluctant to let Adams leave this summer, when you consider the current financial constraints that the club are currently under, they may have no other choice than to sell.

Here we look at ONE winner and ONE loser at Birmingham if they do indeed sanction a deal to let the forward move on to pastures new...

Winner: Isaac Vassell

With Adams being in such fine form over the past 11 months for the Blues, Isaac Vassell has barely had a look in at St Andrew's and when he has played, he has produced nowhere near the standards that were expected of him when he joined in 2017.

Although a serious knee injury certainly hasn't helped his cause, the 25-year-old's career is in danger of spiralling and therefore the departure of his fellow forward could offer him a last chance saloon at Birmingham.

If he can recapture the form which saw him set the fourth tier alight whilst at Luton Town, Vassell could prove to be a worthy replacement for Adams next season which in turn will allow the Blues to strengthen in other areas with the money that they recuperate from the sale of their star forward.

Loser: Lukas Jutkiewicz

Arguably playing the best football of his career to date, Lukas Jutkiewicz has formed a deadly partnership with Adams since his strike partner made the switch from Sheffield United in 2016 and so he seeing him go this summer could be a huge blow for the 30-year-old.

Whereas he will be confident that he can still be a considerable threat in the Championship over the coming years, the former Coventry City man may struggle to match the 14 goals and 10 assists which he registered last season without the presence of Adams.

If Birmingham cannot bring in a sufficient successor for the aforementioned marksman, it would not be at all surprising if they find themselves fighting for survival next season, especially if Jutkiewicz falters in-front of goal.
