Sheffield Wednesday's poor start to the new season continued with defeat agasint Brentford on Sunday afternoon.

Dean Smith’s side brushed aside the Owls in a 2-0 win at Griffin Park to maintain their unbeaten streak ahead of the next round of games.

Neal Maupay scored a first-half penalty before Ollie Watkins’ strike sunk Wednesday as their winless start to the campaign is extended.

Jos Luhukay’s men only managed one shot on target throughout the entire 90 minutes, and only mustered four all game, with 30 minutes between each failed attempt.

It was a game that Brentford dominated in truth from start to finish with Wednesday naming four academy products on the bench having been under a transfer embargo, which has since been lifted.

Brentford dominated possession and were a constant threat to the Owls’ defence in what was a real mismatch between the two sides.

With that said, here is one winner and one loser from Sunday’s Championship clash between the Bees and Sheffield Wednesday.

The Brentford striker converted a 20-minute penalty to give the hosts the lead before assisting Ollie Watkins’ effort to provide the bees with a comfortable two-goal lead.

All three of his shots were on target as he accumulated a pass success rate of 80 per cent.

Maupay also completed two dribbles, the joint most for Brentford in what was performance or real class from the 22-year-old.

Conversely to Maupay, Sheffield Wednesday's Atdhe Nuhia had a shocker.

He was the brunt of many Sheffield Wednesday fans’ frustrations after the defeat having failed to have a single shot on target.

His general demeanour was cumbersome and lacklustre in what was a largely forgettable performance from the striker who was back after a one-game ban he picked up having been sent off against Hull.

It was a performance that will not live long in the memory of the Owls’ fans on what was a pretty forgettable afternoon.
