Sheffield United have started off this year’s Championship campaign in great form, currently sitting third in the division.

Behind Leeds United and Middlesbrough by only two points, the Blades have put together a four-game unbeaten run after two defeats at the beginning of the season.

Yet to draw a game, only one of three teams left to do so, Chris Wilder’s side have found the form from last year that propelled them so close to play-off spot last May.

Their highlight this year has been the 4-1 rout over Aston Villa at Bramall Lane last week, having been four goals up before Villa’s lowly consolation effort.

The two weeks off will allow the Yorkshire side to take stock of the next half-dozen fixtures, ahead of what is going to be busy period between now and the next international break in October.

With that said, here is one winner and one loser from Sheffield United’s season so far after the first batch of fixtures...

Starting the season on the bench, Sharp was playing a bit part here and there.

That was in the first two games of the campaign.

Since then, however, every game that he has started in the league, the club have won.

That is the talismanic form of the 32-year-old, which has been a significant reason as to why Chris Wilder’s men are where they are now.

The Liverpool loanee has started once for the Blades this season and made four substitute appearances since, totalling 133 minutes.

Averaged out over the five games he has featured in the league, that works out at roughly 26.3 minutes per game.

And having failed to score, that statistic doesn’t look like it will better itself any time soon.

There is a lot of football to be played still, and the hope would be that Ben Woodburn finds form and starts to become an important player in the Sheffield United side.

But so far, he has had a pretty forgettable spell at Bramall Lane.
