It has been a simply dismal start to the season for Notts County, a complete opposite to what every fan in League Two would have been expecting of the Magpies following their summer transfer activity...

Six league games into the 2018/19 League Two campaign, the Magpies, tipped the bookies’ favourites to lift the title next May, are yet to win a game thus far, suffering 5 defeats and drawing 0-0 at home on opening day.

Harry Kewell has recently succeeded Kevin Nolan to become the new head coach of the world's oldest Football League club, however the Aussie boss will have a major task on his hands trying to revive a team that has conceded a staggering 16 goals already this season.

There has been some bright sparks this season, though, and here we identify one winner and one loser from Notts County's season so far.

One of three six-figure fee signings in the summer, Enzio Boldewijn has been perhaps the only glimpse of hope for Notts County fans.

The Dutchman's electric pace and trickery has been the Magpies' only creative spark, and having worked with Kewell at Crawley Town in a season where he reached double figures in goals and assists last term, the Meadow Lane faithful will be relying on the winger to lift them up the table sooner rather than later.

Inevitably, the biggest loser from Notts' season thus far is now former-boss Kevin Nolan.

Many from the outside would look at the Magpies' decision to sack Nolan as harsh, especially after the young manager guided the Magpies to a League Two playoff semi-final last term.

But after winning only 8 of his last 28 league games, the former Bolton Wanderers and West Ham United midfielder's incapability to stop his team from conceding goals was ultimately his biggest downfall.
