Blackburn Rovers have made a solid start to their Championship campaign, following promotion from League One last term.

Despite their 4-1 thumping away at Bristol City last Sunday afternoon, Rovers look a solid outfit having lost just the once and winning two out of their opening six league games, with any fears of an instant drop back down to League One surely erased.

They sit in 13th place after their first six games, and definitely have the squad to kick on and form a promotion push come the end of the season.

The international break has arrived, and now is the right time for Tony Mowbray to forget about their disappointing defeat at Ashton Gate, and replicate the solid form they displayed in the early stages of the season.

Here, we take a look at one winner and one loser from Blackburn Rovers' season so far...

Ultimately, the biggest winner has been the manager, Tony Mowbray, who has done a magnificent job at the helm of the Lancashire club over the last couple of years.

From clinching automatic promotion from League One to now guiding Rovers to a solid start to life in the Championship, his work wasn't gone unnoticed having been nominated for the EFL Championship August Manager of the Month award, only to have lost to Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa.

Despite being one of Rovers' standout players in League One last term, Smallwood has struggled to replicate his form this time around in the Championship.

He came under major criticism after their 4-1 defeat to the Robins at the weekend, and Mowbray will be hoping that he can get the best out of the 27-year old once again.
