There are signs that Barnsley are starting to show improvement under new manager Poya Asbaghi after his first few weeks in charge.
The Swede officially took over following the loss to Fulham on November 20 and his first two results were a defeat to Swansea City and a hard-fought point on the road against Peterborough United.
Yesterday though was a bigger clash as the Tykes welcomed Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town to Oakwell, and it was an evenly contested match that saw Asbaghi revert to a more familiar 3-4-3 system that Barnsley are used to playing in previous years as opposed to a 4-2-3-1.
The Terriers did take the lead through Lewis O'Brien but a Carlton Morris equaliser on the stroke of half time ended up being the final goal of the match as the spoils were shared.
Let's look at one winner and one loser for Barnsley from yesterday's all Yorkshire encounter.
Winner - Carlton Morris
How Barnsley have missed Carlton Morris this season.
After signing midway through the 2020-21 campaign from Norwich City, Morris scored seven goals to help the club into the play-offs, but he's been on the sidelines for most of the current campaign.
Playing on the left of a front three yesterday, Morris got off the mark for the season and proved that now he's fully fit he could be Barnsley's talisman to get them out of trouble.
More goals will be needed but it was certainly a start in a good performance for the 25-year-old.
Loser - Cauley Woodrow
This isn't so much for the Barnsley skipper's performance but more for his post-match comments which have drawn ire from Tykes supporters.
Woodrow labelled sections of the fanbase as 'fickle' post-match yesterday for criticising his own performances, in a campaign where he's scored just three goals in 21 outings.
Despite being a regular scorer in seasons gone by, Woodrow hasn't fired for whatever reason and he really does need to start finding the back of the net again if Barnsley are not to be relegated this season.
Comments like this though don't necessarily help anyone and it indicates a fractious relationship - he needs to do his talking on the pitch now to get fans back onside.
