Watford look set to sign CF Montreal and Canada World Cup midfielder Ismael Kone.

That is according to widespread reports, with the news broken by Fabrizio Romano last night.

As per Romano, the Championship side are set to beat clubs from several nations to the 20-year-old's signature.

Kone has recently featured at the FIFA World Cup for Canada, showing glimpses of his talent in his three appearances at the tournament.

Kone's arrival will have an impact on those players already at Vicarage Road, and with that in mind, below, we've identified one loser and one winner at the club as a result of the transfer agreement..

Loser: Edo Kayembe

Although not necessarily like for like, if Kone is to come in at Vicarage Road and be a starter, he is very likely to slot in alongside Hamza Choudhury in midfield.

That means that Edo Kayembe would lose his place as a starter.

Kayembe has done okay at times this season but has been frustrating in other moments, and Kone could potentially come in for him, offering a box-to-box midfield option with far superior technical ability.

Of course, there could be a chance Kayembe keeps his place initially, but the addition of Kone long-term likely means less involvement for him as a starter moving forwards.

Winner: Tom Dele-Bashiru

It may seem strange to call Tom Dele-Bashiru a winner of this deal, but I believe he is.

Yes, the 23-year-old, who is on the fringes of the squad will now likely be pushed further from regular minutes, but, that could be a good thing.

Dele-Bashiru was set back by injury early this season, but, even upon his recent return to fitness, he has been on the periphery at the club, even despite midfield injuries.

Kone's arrival addresses the lack of depth the club has in midfield, which could free up Dele-Bashiru for a loan move away, which could do him the world of good.

Indeed, at 23, the midfielder likely wants to be playing regular minutes and there is no sign of that happening at Vicarage Road just now.
