Swansea City will be looking to make a positive start to the 2022/23 campaign when they face Rotherham United in the Championship on July 30th.

Ahead of this particular fixture, the Jacks have engaged in a reasonable amount of transfer activity in the current window.

Having already secured the services of Harry Darling, Joe Allen, Nathan Wood and Matthew Sorinola, Swansea could now be about to make a move for Aaron Mooy.

According to the Daily Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath, Swansea are interested in signing the Australian international who is now a free-agent following his spell in China with Shanghai Port FC.

Providing that Swansea are able to convince Mooy to make the move to Wales, this switch could have a knock-on effect on some of the existing members of their squad.

Here, we have decided to take a look at one winner and one loser at Swansea if they managed to sign the former Huddersfield Town man...

Winner: Michael Obafemi

Michael Obafemi illustrated some signs of promise in the second-tier for Swansea during the 2021/22 campaign after sealing a move to the club from Southampton.

In the 32 games that he played at this level, the forward managed to find the back of the net on 12 occasions.

When you consider that Mooy has managed to provide 40 assists at club level during his career, there is a chance that he could develop an understanding with Obafemi next season.

If Mooy regularly creates chances for Obafemi, there is every chance that the forward will be able to reach double figures in terms of goals again in the new term.

Loser: Jay Fulton

Jay Fulton slipped down the pecking order at Swansea last season due to the presence of Matt Grimes and Flynn Downes as he only made 18 appearances in the Championship.

Whereas Downes is set to feature for West Ham United in the upcoming term, Fulton may be forced to watch on from the sidelines for the majority of the Jacks' fixtures if Mooy joins the club as the 31-year-old has excelled at this level in the past.

Mooy helped Huddersfield achieve promotion to the Premier League in 2017 by providing 11 direct goal contributions in 48 Championship appearances.

As per a recent Patreon report from Alan Nixon, Fulton has emerged as a target for Reading.

If Swansea cannot provide him with assurances regarding game-time, it could be argued that Fulton ought to consider making a move to the Royals in the current window.
