Swansea City were on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline last night as Middlesbrough beat them at the Riverside in the Sky Bet Championship.

Both sides are considered as play-off contenders at the very least this season and that was reflected by a score that was decided by just the one goal.

Indeed, after the game, Steve Cooper was bemoaning his lack of a real number 9 striker, as quoted by Wales Online, and the suggestion is there that he might look to sign one in the January window.

Who would be the winner and loser of such a development, though? We take a look...

Winner: Andre Ayew

We saw Ayew really come to the fore last season with Rhian Brewster creating all sorts of space for him to excel in in the second half of the campaign.

He's a clever player that sees things others don't and if a new striker comes in to really lead the line the Ghanaian will naturally benefit - in turn helping out the Swans.

Loser: Viktor Gyökeres

Signed on loan from Brighton, there'd have been a hope that the Swede would be helping score goals for Swansea but it's been a frustrating time for time so far - in part because of isolation.

If a new forward comes in he's likely down the pecking order further, with him largely a sub so far, and, with him needing game time, that is obviously far from ideal from his perspective.
