Sheffield Wednesday have made a promising start to their transfer business this summer.

Owls manager Darren Moore will be able to turn to David Stockdale, Ben Heneghan, Michael Ihiekwe, Michael Smith, Will Vaulks, Akin Famewo and Reece James for inspiration after securing the services of these players.

Famewo joined Wednesday from Norwich City for an initial fee believed to be in the region of £50k earlier this week.

As per Yorkshire Live, this particular deal also includes add-ons.

Famewo's arrival at Hillsborough could potentially have a knock-on effect on some of the other members of the club's squad.

Here, we have decided to take a look at one winner and one loser at Wednesday following the club's decision to sign Famewo.

Winner: David Stockdale

Providing that Stockdale is able to to become Wednesday's first-choice goalkeeper in the coming months, he will need help from the club's defenders to claim clean-sheets on a regular basis at this level.

In the previous campaign, the keeper prevented teams from scoring in League One on 19 occasions as Wycombe Wanderers reached the play-off final.

When you consider that Famewo managed to average a respectable WhoScored match rating of 6.79 in the third-tier last season, he will fancy his chances of building an understanding with Stockdale.

If the Owls are able to maintain their consistency in a defensive sense next season, they could go on to launch a push for automatic promotion with Stockdale and Famewo in their side.

Loser: Jaden Brown

Given that Famewo is capable of playing in the left-back position as well as in his preferred role at centre-back, his arrival could have a detrimental impact on Jaden Brown.

Signed by Wednesday last year, the defender was limited to just 11 appearances in League One during the previous campaign as he fell out of favour at Hillsborough.

If Brown slips further down the pecking order in the upcoming term, he ought to consider seeking a move away from the Owls.

By joining a club who are willing to play him on a regular basis next season, the defender could prevent his career from stalling.
