Steve Cooper is reportedly interested in bringing Swansea City midfielder Jay Fulton to Nottingham Forest.

Cooper is expected to be announced as Forest's new manager this week, as the club look to replace Chris Hughton who was sacked last week.

Cooper has been out of work since the end of last season, where he left Swansea after guiding the club to back-to-back play-off finishes.

It seems as if the 41-year-old is already eyeing up reinforcements for his potential new squad, with Fulton on their radar according to The Sun on Sunday (19/09, p61).

Here, we take a look at one winner and one loser at Forest if they did end up bringing Fulton to the City Ground. in the future...

Cooper would undoubtedly be the winner here.

The manager will likely want to address his squad in January after he has had time to make assessments of the players left at his disposal.

Fulton was an integral player for the Swans in Cooper's midfield alongside Matt Grimes, making 40 appearances last season and chipping in with six goal contributions.

He is a player who the manager knows well and trusts, and also knows how to get the best out of.

Having that familiar face around can also help you settle in a bit more.

Loser: Ryan Yates

Yates has been a mainstay in the Forest team for the last few years now, and his performances continue to divide opinions amongst Reds fans.

Yates can be seen as a similar player to Fulton. Both are defensive-minded midfielders who can break forward as a box-to-box player if needs be.

Both are good on the ball and both are of relatively similar age and profile, so Fulton's arrival could really add some competition to that area of the pitch.

Yates would have to work hard and impress if he is to keep his place in the side, especially if Cooper is to bring in one of his trusted companions.
