Norwich City will be looking to have a better second half of their Championship season than they have had in their first half.

The Canaries went into this World Cup break on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough, a defeat that saw Dean Smith’s team slide further down the table, with the gap to the top two now six points.

Norwich have already lost seven games this season, two fewer than the number of games they have won in the Championship.

So, Smith will now be looking ahead to the return of competitive football and preparing his side for their visit to Wales to face Swansea City.

Ahead of that game, it has emerged that Norwich are interested in a potential deal for Leeds United defender Cody Drameh.

TEAMtalk reports that Norwich and Middlesbrough are both interested in the defender, who is also being watched by Premier League clubs Newcastle United, West Ham United, and Crystal Palace.

If Norwich are genuine about their interest and are able to win the race for Drameh, then any potential deal could have a knock-on effect on the current players already at Carrow Road.

Here, we have taken a look at one winner and one loser in Norwich if Drameh were to arrive at Carrow Road this January...

Winner: Max Aarons

If Norwich opt to bolster their options at right-back this could then mean current regular in that position Max Aarons is able to leave the club.

Reports have emerged over the last few weeks that Aarons has reappeared on the radar of several sides ahead of the January transfer window. The Sun has recently claimed that Premier League giants Manchester United have shortlisted the full-back as they look for options in that area.

While 90min, have also added that Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring the defender and could potentially offer top flight football to the 22-year-old.

There seems to be renewed interest in Aarons once again, and therefore, Norwich may now see this as the ideal time to sell the defender as he still has a contract that runs until 2024.

The Canaries adding Drameh to their team could mean they are planning ahead for the potential departure of Aarons sooner rather than later.

Loser: Sam Byram

Despite featuring heavily for the Canaries this season, Byram may be someone that loses out if Drameh arrives at Carrow Road.

The 29-year-old has had a tough time in recent seasons with injuries and finding himself down the pecking order. The full-back has failed to live up to the heights of his early days at Leeds United, and with him now coming to the later end of his career, Norwich may now be planning ahead with a younger defender.

Byram’s contract expires at the end of this season and depending on what happens with Aarons and any potential arrival involving Drameh, the 29-year-old could possibly be allowed to leave once his contract expires.
