With the January transfer window looming, Derby County have been linked with the signing of AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

The 32-year-old - who currently finds himself out on loan at Qarabag until January - faces an uncertain future at the Vitality Stadium when he returns from his spell in Azerbaijan.

The Bosnian failed to cement a place in Eddie Howe's side last season, making 25 appearances in all competitions before being frozen out towards the end of the campaign.

And with Aaron Ramsdale, Artur Boruc and Mark Travers ahead of him in the pecking order, the experienced shot-stopper looks set to leave in the New Year.

The Sun claim that West Ham United, Derby County, Birmingham City and PSV Eindhoven are interested in signing Begovic in January.

Derby are likely to be in the market for a new goalkeeper in January, to provide competition for the likes of Kelle Roos and Ben Hamer.

The Rams had been linked with Sheffield Wednesday's Cameron Dawson, but the 24-year-old looks set to sign a new deal with the Owls.

Here, then, we take a look at one winner and one loser if Derby sign Begovic in January...

Winner: Phillip Cocu

It's fair to say that Derby fans are split right down the middle when it comes to deciding Phillip Cocu's future at the moment.

The Dutchman has come under scrutiny by supporters, with his side struggling to find form away from home and sitting seven points off the play-offs.

Signing Begovic, though, would undoubtedly be a massive coup for Derby given that West Ham United have been linked with the shot-stopper.

He is an experienced, talented goalkeeper who has excelled at a higher level before, and signing a player of his calibre in January would be a big statement of intent.

Loser: Kelle Roos

Of course, the loser in this potential transfer deal would be Kelle Roos, who has endured a tough season so far.

The Dutchman started the season as Derby's number-one goalkeeper after impressing under Frank Lampard last term, and has made 18 appearances in all competitions this time around.

But the 27-year-old has made a host of glaring errors this season and his ability to command his box to full effect has come under scrutiny by fans as well.

He has been dropped by Cocu for Derby's last two games against QPR and Blackburn, and if Begovic were to sign, then his game-time would surely become very limited indeed.
