Blackburn Rovers will be aiming to book their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup this weekend by securing a victory over Birmingham City at Ewood Park.

Rovers set up a meeting with the Blues by beating Norwich City in this particular competition earlier this month.

Ahead of Saturday's showdown with Birmingham, Blackburn have been linked with a move for Sorba Thomas.

According to a Patreon report from Alan Nixon, Rovers are interested in signing Thomas from Huddersfield Town as they look to bolster their attacking options before the transfer window shuts.

Providing that Blackburn are able to reach an agreement with the Terriers over a fee for Thomas, the winger's arrival could have an impact on some of the existing members of their squad.

Here, we have decided to take a look at one winner and one loser at Blackburn if the club completes a move for the Wales international...

Winner: Sam Gallagher

Sam Gallagher could end up benefitting considerably from Blackburn's decision to sign Thomas as the winger is more than capable of providing some adequate service at this level.

During his time at Huddersfield, Thomas has managed to produce 19 assists for his team-mates in the Championship while he has also chipped in with three goals of his own.

By creating opportunities from crosses for Gallagher, he could help the Blackburn man find the back of the net on a regular basis between now and the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Gallagher has made 22 appearances for Rovers in all competitions this season and is expected to play a significant role in the club's quest to secure a place in the play-offs over the course of the coming months.

Loser: Dilan Markanday

If Rovers are able to convince Thomas to make the switch to Ewood Park, Dilan Markanday is extremely likely to fall further down the pecking order at the club.

The 21-year-old has only featured on six occasions for Blackburn in all competitions this season and has yet to start a game in the Championship since sealing a move from Tottenham Hotspur last season.

A report from Lancs Live last month suggested that Rovers were willing to listen to loan offers for Markanday.

Given that there is no guarantee that he will be able to force his way into Blackburn's side between now and the end of the season, a temporary move to a team in a lower division who are able to provide him with an adequate amount of game time could be exactly what Markanday needs at this stage of his career.
