West Bromwich Albion have made a fine start to the Sky Bet Championship season, with Darren Moore’s side entering the midweek fixtures sitting top of the table.

Results elsewhere over the course of the weekend led to Albion going top, with the Baggies now having an excellent opportunity to push on and secure an instant return to the Premier League.

Whilst they’ve not been the best defensively, Moore’s side have been outstanding in attack, scoring 25 goals in 10 fixtures.

Despite such impressive attacking options, Moore has moved to strengthen that today with the signing of Bakary Sako until the end of the season following his release from Premier League side, Crystal Palace.

The powerful 30-year-old previously excelled in the EFL for Wolves, with his signing a real coup for the Baggies.

After the announcement of the free agent’s arrival, we take a look at ONE winner and ONE loser at the Hawthorns…

This is a signing that makes everyone associated with West Brom a winner, as Sako has the potential to take the club back to the Premier League.

However, you have to highlight what this deal will mean for Moore, who now has a very good selection headache.

Sako will expect to start, but he will have to displace some exciting attacking options.

It’s the type of dilemma that managers love to have.

Barnes has started the season very well in the No.10 role of Moore’s 3-4-1-2 formation.

Sako could be one man to challenge Barnes for a starting berth in the coming weeks, whilst his addition could also mean a switch in systems.

Matt Phillips and Sako would give a 4-4-2 incredible balance, so that’s something else for Moore to consider.

Barnes will be hoping this signing doesn’t spell the end for his run in the starting XI.
