Bolton Wanderers have been hit with an irritating injury update from Keith Hill, with the Trotters boss confirming that Ali Crawford is set for a spell in the treatment room.

Crawford scored Bolton's first goal in their win over Manchester City's Under-21's side in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday, which sees them likely to qualify for their next stage of the competition.

But Crawford's night ended in disappointment as he was stretchered off late on with a knee injury, which would have had many of the club's supporters concerned over the seriousness of the problem.

Their worst fears were confirmed earlier this week as well, as Hill revealed to The Bolton News that Crawford is set for a 'significant' spell on the sidelines with the knee injury.

He has been key to their impressive performances in recent weeks, and already has three assists to his name so far in all competitions.

We look at one winner and one loser after this frustrating injury update.

Winner: Dennis Politic

Politic has been a rare bright spark in a disappointing start to this year's league campaign but hasn't been featuring as much as he would have liked to since Bolton signed a number of experienced players.

The youngster has been attracting interest from both Wolves and Aston Villa in the past, and it looks as though he could be set for a run in the starting XI.

Politic is a tricky player to come up against with his direct style of play, and he'll be keen to showcase his talent on a consistent basis with Crawford out injured.

Loser: Daryl Murphy

Murphy has made a steady start to life with Bolton since arriving after having his contract with Nottingham Forest mutually terminated.

The experienced Irishman has one goal to his name this season, but he's likely to suffer from a lack of creativity behind him from the CAM role which Crawford occupied.

With Crawford out for the foreseeable future, Murphy will be relying on the likes of Joe Dodoo and Dennis Politic to supply him with the chances he needs to fire Bolton up the League One table.
