Nottingham Forest strengthened their squad even further with the signing of former Olympiacos midfielder Panagiotis Tachtsidis on a free transfer

The Greek international becomes Aitor Karanka's 15th summer signing and the second holding midfielder to arrive at the club after Jack Colback's move earlier in the window.

Forest's midfield pairing of Colback and club captain Ben Watson has been a huge gripe of the City Ground faithful in recent weeks, with many feeling that the duo are far too similar to play together.

They were saying it before kick-off against Brentford when it was announced that the pair were starting together once again and the fans were proved correct as the Bees condemned Forest to their first defeat of the season.

Therefore Tachtsidis could be used sooner rather than later by Karanka.

But who wins in this situation and who loses?

The winner here is Jack Colback who is most likely to be the man retained over Ben Watson in midfield.

He may be the club captain, but Watson has been the one receiving the most flak for his performances and a spell on the sidelines could beckon.

However, Colback can probably count himself lucky and he will have to put in some good performances if he is to retain his place as well.

The big loser has got to be Liam Bridcutt.

The presence of the former Brighton man makes the Tachtsidis signing a bit bizarre and will most likely bump him further down the pecking order.

There have been repeated calls for Bridcutt to start from fans, but it is difficult to see him doing so if a new signing has arrived who plays the same position.
