Athletic. Commanding. Versatile. Strong. Composed. Just some of the adjectives used to describe Nathaniel Chalobah, yet another excellent player to be churned out by the Chelsea academy. 18 year old Chalobah currently on loan at nPower Championship side Watford, has excelled playing week in week out in the English second tier. Gianfranco Zola has provided Chalobah with the minutes on the pitch that he so very much needs, almost starting him in every game since arriving at Watford. Chalobah used majorly as a centre back when at Chelsea, has been operating in the Central midfield role at Watford and has been an integral part of Watford’s impressive early season form.
Chalobah’s composure is an element of his game that is most evident. He is rarely seen losing possession and always seems to do the right thing at the right time. Chalobah’s aerial presence, both attacking and defending wise has been a major boost to Watford, standing at 6 ft 1 he is a tough to handle for even the most seasoned pro’s. Chalobah’s athleticism is another excellent component of his game, with his mobility allowing him to get involved in attack whenever there is an opportunity, he is really becoming a true box to box player somewhat similar to one Yaya Toure.
Chalobah has been involved in the England team from a young age, making appearances for the U16, and also making 1 appearance for the U21’s. Chalobah’s loan move to Watford has been a great move for the 18 year old, allowing him to develop his game in what is a very demanding league.
If Chalobah continues to develop at the rate at which he is now, he will be an established Premier League player before we know it.
