Liverpool are interested in signing Middlesbrough defender Dael Fry, according to a report by the Northern Echo.

The 21-year-old was an important player for Boro last season and made 39 appearances for the team in all competitions, as Tony Pulis' side finished seventh in the Championship table.

His impressive performances for Boro have attracted the attention of Liverpool, with the Northern Echo reporting that Jurgen Klopp's side sent scouts to watch the defender on a number of occasions last season.

So, would Fry be a good signing for Liverpool?

We discuss...

Toby Wilding

"This could be a good signing, but I think it would be with the future in mind.

"Fry has shown plenty of promise, but the strength of Liverpool's side means it is hard to see a young player like him walk straight into the starting XI.

"It could well be a case of securing a young talent before one of your rivals gets to him first for Liverpool here."

Kealan Hughes

"He is a talented young player who's had an impressive season with Middlesbrough.

"Liverpool have enjoyed success in signing young players from the EFL in the form of Joe Gomez and if given a chance I think he'd be capable of the step up.

"However, Liverpool are a team challenging for silverware on all fronts, and will be aiming for their first Premier League title for 30 years next season, so chances might be few and far between for Fry."

George Brooks

"This would be a good signing for Liverpool.

"Fry is a player with a lot of potential and could be capable of making the step up to the Premier League in the future.

"I'm not sure a move to Liverpool would be the best thing for his development though, as it's highly unlikely that he will get a chance in the first-team at Anfield.

"He's definitely one to watch for the future though."
