This season, Gillingham F.C. are hoping to seal promotion to the second tier of English football, and they have started off in the right manner, remaining unbeaten and picking up 11 points in their opening five league games.

Their successful start is, in part, down to the fine form of hot prospect Bradley Dack. The central midfielder is the club's top marksman this campaign – with five goals in seven matches in all competitions.

Despite reported interest from Huddersfield and Bristol City, the Gills chairman, Paul Scally, stressed he was not for sale 'at any price', and the fans will be delighted that the chairman has stuck to his word.

Bradley Dack has been with Gillingham F.C. since 2010, having earned his first professional contract with the club in May 2012.

Since then, impressive performances for the Gill's first team have resulted in last season's Player of the Year, putting pen to paper on a new and improved deal until June 2018.

Dack is predominantly a central midfielder, but can also be deployed as an attacking midfielder just off the striker.

Having scored 5 goals in 7 games from midfield, not only does Dack have an eye for goal, but he possesses the ability to score a wide variety of different types of goals – from 30 yard screamers, to delicate chips over the keeper.

He's an energetic and tricky player, who is capable of dribbling past opponents with ease, allowing him to advance into dangerous positions from the centre of midfield.

In addition to this, he is a technically gifted player, who is very competent with both feet, making him unpredictable and difficult to defend against.

The 21-year-old is a very attack-minded player, which can sometimes lead to him being caught out defensively in terms of positioning, allowing opposing midfielders space to advance into.

Moreover, he can sometimes try to 'overplay' and complicate things in defensive areas, which can lead to him losing the ball in dangerous areas of the pitch.

However, with more experience and coaching, he will learn to cut this aspect out of his game. Dack can also be a little bit too boisterous, which has resulted in him picking up two yellow cards in the league already this season.

If Gillingham are to mount a serious promotion push this season, it would seem fundamental that they keep hold of their current top goal scorer. Having a midfielder who can score goals is always a positive for a team, as it takes some pressure off the strikers.

Bradley Dack is a huge talent, and it is almost certain he will play at a higher level than League One. However, Gills fans will be hoping that he does so whilst still wearing the blue of Gillingham F.C.
