Antonio Barragan has completed a permanent move away from Middlesbrough.

Barragan joins Real Betis on a permanent deal after spending last season on loan with the Spanish top division club.

The 31-year-old played 31 games for Real Betis last term and helped them to a sixth place finish in La Liga last season.

He now rejoins the club for their European campaign and leaves Boro after two years.

The Spaniard played 27 games for Middlesbrough, including 26 in the Premier League, during his one full season at The Riverside Stadium, playing at both centre-half and right-back.

The former Liverpool and Valencia defender was part of the Boro squad that was relegated to the Championship after just one year in the top flight but he decided to move back to Spain rather than remain at the club.

Here are what some Middlesbrough fans were saying about Barragan's departure on social media after the club officially announced that he was permanently moving to Real Betis.
