Ipswich Town will be desperate to bounce straight back to the Championship at the first time of asking after being emphatically relegated last season.
But Sunderland have shown that it is never as easy as it perhaps looks to make an immediate return to the second-tier so Paul Lambert will be keen to not get cocky.
And they made a good start to their summer transfer business on Tuesday morning when they announced the signing of Tranmere Rovers striker James Norwood.
The 28-year-old was the top-scorer in England last season, bagging 29 League Two goals as he helped Tranmere reach the play-offs and then League One.
But how will his time at Portman Road pan out?
“I think he’ll do well.
“Norwood is one of those who just seems to have that instinct to get in the right place at the right time to put the ball in the back of the net.
“If Ipswich can keep the majority of the squad together for next season, then you feel that he will get plenty of opportunities to carry on doing just that.”
“It’ll be one of the signings of the season.
“Norwood is a proven goalscorer in the lower leagues, and is the perfect signing for Paul Lambert’s side ahead of next season.
“With him in their squad, Ipswich have every right to be one of the favourites to win promotion to the Championship.”
“Norwood is in the form of his life right now, and he seems to be hitting his peak.
“There’s no reason why his goals should dry up. He’s a dogged, determined poacher and has the attributes to step up to any level.
“Ipswich should be one of the best teams in the League One next season, and that will only help Norwood to score goals.”
