Portsmouth took a break from League One action at the weekend as they sealed a late win against Norwich City in the 3rd round of the FA Cup.

Pompey, of course, have a well-known love-affair with the famous old competition and it seems as though Kenny Jackett and co. are looking to go on another run - providing it doesn't detract from this season's main aim.

Indeed, that is, of course, winning promotion from the third tier and, to that end, keeping Jamal Lowe at the club is obviously key too.

He has, recently, been linked with a move away to various Championship clubs but Jackett has said that no bid has been received and, clearly, it won't exactly be entertained either this month.

Of course, the temptations of moving to the second-tier are obvious but, for now, if an offer did come in Lowe would be well-advised to potentially stay at Fratton Park until the summer at least.

Portsmouth are flying right now and though Luton are hot on their heels, they look firm favourites for the title - as well as crucial promotion to the Championship.

A club that has been through the mire, they are now well-run, back in much safer financial waters and possess a squad that is hungry and packed full of talent.

Of course, moving to a Leeds or Nottingham Forest has its glamour but playing should be the holy grail for players and Lowe has never been shy of dropping down in order to get minutes.

He seems a footballer that wants to play first and foremost, then, and at a club that is flying where he is guaranteed action and superb form - surely all his boxes are ticked right now.

A lack of promotion for Pompey might spark the question for him in the summer but, at present, going up and progressing with his current club is a real possibility.

It's surely unlikely he'll give that up right now.
