Nottingham Forest have lived very dangerously this season.

On the verge of the relegation spots, Forest picked up an invaluable three points in Saturday’s home win against Reading, and one more win should be enough for another season in the top flight.

Mark Warburton was brought into the club in March, and the former Rangers manager is a man with an impressive record in the Sky Bet Championship.

The London born boss took Brentford to the play-offs in their first season back in the league, before succumbing to Middlesbrough in the semi finals.

Warburton is ambitious, and will hope for something similar at Forest next season should he keep them in the division.

The summer transfer window will be Warburton’s first since his appointment, and much is to be done if Forest are to compete in the upper echelons of the league.

Here we look at one player who Warburton should cut from his squad, and one player that should be brought in....

OUT: Apostolos Vellios

Former Everton youngster, Vellios, has played in no less than 3 European countries since he left The Toffees in 2014.

Forest took a punt on him last summer, and splashed over £1 million to sign the player from Greek club, Iraklis.

Vellios started the season well, and had four goals to his name by October.

Since then, the Greek has only added another two to his tally. Six goals from a million pound player is not a great return, and is not the form required to take Forest up the table next season.

Warburton will look to bring in his own signings next summer, and Vellios could be one of the first players to be shown the door.

Warburton has links throughout English football, and will already be looking for a striker to partner Britt Assombalonga next season.

IN: Sean Raggett

Forest have the second worst defensive record in the Championship this season, leaking an eye watering 70 goals across 44 games.

Only rock bottom, Rotherham United, have shipped more. With that in mind, Warburton will be keen to strengthen his back line over the course of the summer.

Forest have a number of established defensive names on the books, including Matt Mills, Eric Lichaj, Jack Hobbs and Michael Mancienne.

It is clear that some of these players have not lived up to expectations this year, and young Joe Worrall has been preferred in the middle on many occasions this season.

For Forest to improve, they should look down the leagues, and seriously consider acquiring Lincoln City defender, Sean Raggett.

Warburton has a history of successfully acquiring players from non league football, and that trend could be set to continue.

Raggett joined the Imps last summer from Dover, and his performances at the heart of the defence have seen the Imps have one of the best seasons in their history.

Crowned National League Champions at the weekend, Raggett also led the Lincolnshire club to the quarter finals of the FA Cup, and even scored a last minute winner in the 5th round tie at Burnley.

Raggett has been a rock, and his performances in the FA Cup have done enough to suggest he can impress in the Championship. Lincoln knocked both Ipswich Town and promoted Brighton and Hove Albion in their cup run, and Forest should seriously consider a bid for the 6 ft 5 in man.

At 23 years of age, Raggett still has room for improvement, and could go on to become a fixture in the Forest side for many years. Newly promoted Lincoln will look to hold onto their best assets during the offseason, and a sizeable bid would have to be tabled to convince Danny Cowley to part ways with his main man.

Championship clubs have a considerably big buying power however, and a bid in the region of £500,000 should be enough to secure the player's signature.
