Nottingham Forest suffered a disappointing 4-2 loss to Mick McCarthy's Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Saturday.

The result leaves Mark Warburton's side in 13th spot in the Sky Bet Championship table, and after the match, a large proportion of Forest fans pinpointed their goalkeeper Jordan Smith as an area that is weak.

Do Forest need to sign a new goalkeeper in the January transfer window?

We take a look.....

Chris Gallagher

One hundred per cent.

In fairness to Mark Warburton the Adam Federici injury was a massive blow, but there can be no excuses in January.

Jordan Smith is a promising player and very young for a keeper, but Forest need a new experienced stopper to come in during the next window.

It could be the key difference as they hunt for a top six place.

Alfie Burns

It has been essential since Adam Federici’s failed move over the summer, and it is likely to be the first thing Warburton tries to sort in the New Year.

There is too much reliance on Jordan Smith, and Forest are struggling to find some serious consistency with a leaky defence.

It is fine margins that are preventing Forest mounting a serious push on the top-six, with the goalkeeping situation already hindering them.

Would a new goalkeeping addition help turn things around? I think so.

George Dagless

Absolutely.

If Forest could defend they'd be in the top six for sure but they are instead outside of it and hampered by inconsistency.

I think the penny must have dropped for Mark Warburton and now he needs to act in January.

Adam Simeoni

They've needed a new keeper all season. Jordan Smith has done well but makes a lot of mistakes, so a more experienced head could be required.

Is it a priority in January? It looks to be that way.
