Millwall have had a solid start to the season and sit in 15th place having picked up nine points from their opening seven fixtures.

It's a start that will have pleased Neil Harris after flirting with relegation on several occasions last season.

However, there is one area to their game that they will look to improve, otherwise they may find it tough to win games if confidence and form begins to change.

The ability to score goals is crucial for any side, in any league in the world, and Millwall have netted just five times in their opening seven fixtures.

Obviously their defensive prowess is admired, but they have to become more potent in front of goal, with Lions boss Harris seeing a prime example of their lack of instinct in the defeat at Ewood Park last Saturday.

They created a number of good opportunities but couldn't find the back of net and eventually paid the price with another defeat on the road.

Since the sale of Lee Gregory, there will be many Millwall supporters who thought that they had replaced him well, bringing in Reading striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and QPR forward Matt Smith.

Both offer traits that are so often accustomed for in a Millwall side, Bodvarsson's running and Smith's physical ability, but the key feature for a striker is their ability to score goals and at the moment that isn't happening at the Den.

Gregory scored ten goals last season and managed to get seven assists which helped play a pivotal role in Millwall's side last season. The newly implemented strikers need to start firing as Harris and his team have three crucial fixtures coming up.

The Lions face QPR, Huddersfield and Luton with all three of the sides posing weaknesses that Harris and his team might be able to pounce on.

Smith is probably their biggest threat, and in terms of style of football, he suits the Lions down to the ground. They also have Tom Bradshaw who has netted this season, but it might not be completely the forwards' fault.

The midfield must start adding goals as well, and they need to allow players such as Connor Mahoney and Jed Wallace to stretch their legs and give more support the attacks. They can't keep playing with a 4-5-1 even in possession, they have to make sure that they offer as much to the lone striker than they have done recently.
