Paul Heckingbottom was one of many managers to come and go at Leeds in a matter of months and in hindsight it seems an odd decision to ever appoint him.

Heckingbottom gave debuts to many young starlets, many of which are excelling under Bielsa this year, but in reality, his time at the club wasn’t great.

The Whites finished 13th and he lost his job after just four months in charge.

Nowadays, Heckingbottom is in charge of Hibernian, where he takes charge of his opening game this weekend.

We debate whether they should have ever appointed him…

Jay Taylor

“You can never tell how an appointment is going to go.

“On paper, it seemed like the perfect fit – and I don’t think there should be regret in appointing Heckingbottom.

“Trigger happy owners put pay to his time at Elland Road.

“Despite the poor start, had he had the summer and more time I am sure he could have been a success.”

Louie Chandler

“They should have given Christiansen until the end of the season.

“The Spaniard should have been given time to rediscover their early season form but the Whites got trigger happy.

“Heckingbottom was possibly a case of the right appointment at the wrong time, having shown with Barnsley how good a coach he can be.”

Gary Hutchinson

“Obviously not, no.

“He looked good on paper, but his record at Elland Road was really poor.

“He wasn’t the right man for the job then and nothing has changed that since.”
