Ex-England international Joe Cole is set to make his debut for Sky Bet League One outfit Coventry City tomorrow night after joining the club in a shock loan move last week.

Cole is simply happy to be playing football

The Sky Blues take on Rochdale tomorrow night and boss Tony Mowbray has confirmed that Cole will make the journey and be included in his squad.

Cole's move from Aston Villa to Coventry has caused quite a stir with many people left questioning why a man of such talent is now playing in League One.

Many of the more cynical speculators had considered that Cole had signed for the Sky Blues simply for the money that they were paying him, which Cole has confirmed simply isn't the case.

He told Eurosport: "If I was coming here for the money I wouldn't be here. I have been playing in an era where we are very lucky and we appreciate that as footballers.

"You have an opportunity to lead a good life and finances are not going to be a problem for me. That wasn't an issue for me coming here."

Cole is looking forward to being involved on a match day once again and is chomping at the bit ahead of tomorrow night.

He continued: "I just want to play football, regardless of the level, proper football, competitive football. I just want to play for the right team and the right manager who wants to play the right way.

"I am sure once I get the cobwebs off I'll be back to my normal self and I am looking forward to it."

The Sky Blues currently sit in fifth position in Sky Bet League One, having accumulated 23 points from 12 league games this season.

Mowbray will be eager to implement an element of consistency to the Sky Blues, and will be hoping Joe Cole can enhance the club's attacking talent, that should potentially create more goalscoring opportunities.
