Oliver Norwood reveals how Sheffield United are feeling ahead of QPR clash

Sheffield United take on QPR tonight in a game they will be hoping to win to further boost their play-off push.

Currently the Blades sit sixth in the league but only two points clear of Middlesbrough directly below them.

United come into this game on the back of a 1-0 win whilst QPR come into it after a 1-0 defeat.

However, despite there being a lot riding on the game, midfielder Oliver Norwood told The Star he is calm as he said: “There’s no pressure on us. It’s in our own hands and that’s how you want it.

“These are the situations you become a footballer for. You don’t grow up as a kid dreaming of being in mid-table and simply playing out a season. You dream of things like promotion and stuff like that.

“So we want to be in exactly these types of scenarios. Other people might want to talk about pressure and this and that. We just embrace it because it’s what we work hard for.”

Last time his side faced QPR was earlier this month and the Blades came out the winners with a 1-0 scoreline and Norwood scoring the goal. Reflecting on the game he said: “I don’t think they expected me to shoot because I don’t usually get so far up the pitch.

“It was a good game. A tough game and that’s what we’re expecting again. I should score more than I do so that’s something I’ll be looking to try and rectify.

“This league can be crazy at times. Look at Bournemouth the other night; three goals down and they come back late to get a draw. We’ve got to make sure we’re ready for everything.”

The Verdict:

It may be surprising to hear Norwood say he doesn’t feel the pressure is on his side despite this game being massive in their push for the play-offs.

However, what he says isn’t unfair as they only have to rely on themselves to succeed this season rather than needing other team’s results to go their way.

Therefore, this does put them in the powerful position of being in control of their own outcomes.

Regardless of how much pressure they feel though, tonight will be a big game for Sheffield United and if they can come away with three points it will give them a great boost.
