Sheffield United midfielder Oliver Norwood has spoken to the Sheffield Star about the Blades' promotion winning form this season, highlighting the key aspects he believes have helped the club finish in the top two.

Norwood, who only signed for United in the summer and has played a key part in the club's success, highlighted the 'togetherness' of the squad and praised the spirit within the camp at Bramall Lane.

"The togetherness and belief we have shown has been key. We're a group of friends that have stuck together. We've dug each other out at times when it's been needed but there have been more good times than bad, and even in the bad times we've stuck together and got ourselves through it. Norwood said.

"I think the whole dressing room - from one to 25, not just the starting eleven - deserves huge credit and we've showed that togetherness and belief which eventually got us over the line."

The Northern Ireland midfielder has now won promotion from the Championship in three consecutive seasons, and will be hoping to be given the chance to finally make an impression on top flight football under the guidance of Chris Wilder.

And Norwood believes his teammates deserve the chance to impress too, adding:

"I believe that can go a long way, we've seen teams go up before and stick to the core of the group and although I don't know the plans for the football club this summer, I think the boys have earned the right to give it a go."

The Blades couldn't quite wrestle the Championship title away from Norwich yesterday, but will go into the top flight with plenty of confidence following such a brilliant season.

The Verdict

Norwood's comments don't come as a surprise to anyone who has looked at what has been going on at Bramall Lane really.

They are quite telling though, and the midfielder will hope to impress next term.
