Manchester United recently confirmed that they had reached an agreement, in principle, to sign Swansea winger, Daniel James.

It puts an end to months of rumours linking the Welshman with a move to Old Trafford, and he'll be keen to hit the ground running next season.

James has been hugely impressive in his breakthrough season with the Swans, and scored four league goals and assisted on seven occasions as they finished 10th in the Championship table.

James' former Swansea team-mate, Oli McBurnie took to Twitter to send the winger his best wishes in a heartwarming statement from the striker.

McBurnie was Swansea's main outlet for goals last season, and he finished last year's campaign with () goals to his name.

But there's no doubting that James played a key role in the upturn in form for the Swans under Graham Potter since the turn of the year.

With Potter also recently departing the club shortly after the conclusion of their season in favour of a move to Brighton, it's certainly going to be interesting to see how the Swans cope without some key figures.

McBurnie has also been linked with a move away from Swansea, with Sheffield United and Brighton rumoured to be interested in signing him ahead of next season according to The Sun (19th May, page 63).

But all eyes will be on Daniel James next season at Old Trafford, as the young Welshman looks to justify the hefty price tag that Manchester United have paid for him.

The Verdict:

He'll be missed by Swansea.

James had the ability to change the course of a game on his own at times, and they'll struggle without him heading into next season.

I hope that Swansea find an adequate replacement for James, but I can't see them winning promotion back into the Premier League without their star man.
