Late into January's Deadline Day, Aston Villa confirmed the signing of Swansea midfielder, Tom Carroll on loan until the end of the season.

The move came somewhat out of the blue, and many supporters were surprised to see him arrive at Villa Park, with no previous rumours circulating about his future with Swansea.

Carroll has since gone on to make just two substitute appearances for the Villans as they make a late charge for the play-off places this season.

But one Swansea man seems to be missing Carroll more than most, with Oli McBurnie taking to Instagram to claim that he misses his Swans team-mate.

McBurnie himself has been in a good run of form this season and his goals have kept Swansea well adrift of the relegation places.

He'll be a crucial player for the Swans heading into next season, and supporters will be hoping that they can strengthen their squad as they look to challenge for promotion in next year's campaign.

With Carroll set to return to Swansea at the end of the season, it seems unlikely that he's going to return to Villa Park after rarely being used for Dean Smith's side since he joined the club.

On his day, Carroll has already shown that he can perform to a high standard, having previously represented Spurs in the Premier League earlier into his career.

The Verdict:

He has left a notable void in the Swansea team.

I'm still surprised to see Carroll at Aston Villa as it's unlikely that he;s ever going to be a regular in Dean Smith's starting XI as the season heads towards a conclusion.

His long-term future surely lies with the Swans as they look to challenge for promotion next season.
