West Brom have had a brilliant start to the season with Slaven Bilic transforming the club since he took over.

The Croatian was pretty ruthless in the summer, with a host of new arrivals coming in and several players leaving - including Oliver Burke.

Having joined Albion for a significant sum from RB Leipzig in 2017, big things were expected of the Scotland international but he hasn't delivered and it didn't take the new boss long to decide he didn't want him in his plans.

Despite that, it was still surprising to see the 22-year-old move to Spanish top-flight outfit Alaves for the season and here we assess how his loan spell has started for FLW.

Unfortunately for Burke, as is becoming a common theme, things aren't really going to plan.

Firstly, the team are struggling. They are one place and one point above the relegation zone having picked up eight points from their opening eight games. And, the summer signing has featured in four of those.

An assist in the important 2-0 win over Mallorca at home has been his only contribution to a goal since joining and the side have lost every other game that Burke has been involved in.

Despite the overall struggles, he clearly is doing something right as he has now started two of the last three games indicating the manager appreciates the pace and power that he boasts.

As well as that, it has to be remembered that the former Nottingham Forest man will need time, like everyone does, adapting to a new country, league and teammates.

However, Burke will hope things improve as the months progress as he looks to rediscover the form that made him one of the outstanding emerging talents in British football at one stage.
