Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appears to have hinted that goalkeeper Dean Henderson could be sent out on loan to another Premier League side next season.

Henderson enjoyed a hugely successful loan spell in The Championship with Sheffield United this season, helping The Blades return to the top tier, with many including the goalkeeper himself expressing a desire for Henderson to return to Bramall Lane next season.

That now appears to be a step closer to happening, after United boss Solskjaer suggested Henderson could benefit from a season in the top flight.

The Sheffield Star quote Solskjaer telling the Old Trafford club's in house TV channel, MUTV: "Let's see with Dean. He's won promotion with Sheffield United and been fantastic. For him to play a year in the Premier League might be the best thing."

It has been suggested that Henderson could be handed an improved contract at Old Trafford before being loaned out again, having previously spent time in League Two and League One with Grimsby and Shrewsbury respectively.

Henderson was an ever-present for the Blades in the Championship this season, winning the division's Golden Glove after keeping 21 clean sheets throughout the course of the season.

The verdict

This feels like a big opportunity for Sheffield United.

It is no secret that Henderson is keen on a return to Bramall Lane, and it now seems that United would be open to such a move as well.

Given his performances for The Blades this season, you feel this is a move they must really push to make happen.
