Oldham Athletic have today announced the signing of Crawley Town midfielder Mike Jones.
The 26-year-old former Bury and Sheffield Wednesday player has signed a two-year contract with the Latics.
Jones becomes Oldham’s second signing of the close season after Joseph Mills joined on a free transfer last week.
The Liverpudlian has spent the last two years at Crawley, scoring five goals in 90 appearances.
Jones was out of contract at the Broadfield Stadium and had told the Red boss John Gregory he wanted to return north.
The midfielder told the official Oldham website:
“I’m very excited about the prospect of what could be happening here next season. The manager is very ambitious and I’m excited to get started.
“His enthusiasm to get me into the club was one of the reasons why I signed for the club. He seems me as a central player and he thinks he can improve my game so hopefully we can give it a good go next year and be up there.
“I want to excite the fans and give Oldham a good season next year. I want to score goals, get assists and make things happen.”
