Sports Direct is owned by Newcastle United chairman Mike Ashley and the deal also includes a friendly with the Magpies on the 15th of July.

Newcastle renamed their stadium from the famous St James’ Park to the Sports Direct Arena in 2011 before it was changed back just 12 months later.

The stadium has been under improvement in recent months with the Latics in the process of building a brand new North Stand.

The Latics have played at the stadium since 1904 and this is the first time that it has had its name changed.

The ground also hosted the Oldham Roughyeds Rugby League side between 1997-2001 and 2003-2009.

Oldham will kick-off the new 2014-15 season in League One on August 9th with an away game at Colchester, with their first home league fixture taking place seven days later when they host Leyton Orient.
